Fundraising for East Anglian Children’s Hospice

Our sponsored football team is proud to confirm that they have raised a wonderful £711.63p for our chosen charity partner, EACH. Well done Ely Crusaders for your hard efforts!

Following their kit sponsorship from Amber Design & Build, a commitment was made by the team to repay this generosity by raising money for their local charity the East Anglian Children’s Hospice (EACH).
The team set about raising money by contacting local supermarkets and arranged a charity bag pack. The ram successfully raised £711.63p in conjunction with the kind donations made by the local residents of Ely and the team themselves after each player donated pocket money to start the fundraising off.

“We are very proud of the efforts made by the team following our sponsorship of the Ely’s City Crusaders U11’s. It brings a smile to our faces that the team managed to raise so much for a great cause and that they started it off with their own pocket money.
Well done to them all.”

“The partners take their responsibility to put something back into the community seriously. This is one of a number of planned initiatives that will be rolled out from Q3 2018 by the business. We are always looking to invest back into our community and make a difference. We should all try and do a little something to put a smile on a face and make a difference”

Successful 2017 Summer Work Experience

As part of our business strategy, Amber actively seek to collaborate with the people we work with to seek opportunities for undergraduates to be provided with work experience. Amber are proud to have helped two young potential designers for the future this summer.

Zachary Mills, an A level student from Enfield was placed with Simon Bowden Architects on two weeks work experience. Simon’s team provided a mentor for Zach’s period of summer work experience. Zach  presented his completed assignment to the studio on the evening of his last day and was rewarded with a blushing round of applause (and a big smile from his mentor Tom!).

“I appreciate that I have been given a unique opportunity to be placed with Simon Bowden. I really appreciate the efforts that Simon Bowden and Simon Chapman went through to ensure I got the most out of this experience. My parents are very proud of me as is my Grandad who was an architectural technician when he was young. I can’t wait to get stuck into my second year of my A levels!”

Amber also welcomed Isabelle Hooper who is a recent graduate interior designer from Falmouth University to the Amber Studio. Isabelle was given an assignment to undertake the interior design for a small studio based in London. Following Isabelle’s successful two weeks work experience she was invited to formally present her scheme to the amber partners and office staff. The result of her successful pitch was an invitation to come back.. and she has accepted!

“Isabelle’s tenacity to reach out and seek an opportunity for experience is why we invited her in to see us. Her focus to complete the design in the two week period was rewarded with an invitation to extend her time with Amber. We look forward to continuing her graduate development by inviting her to join the small works team. We are positive Isabelle will be a success”
